Ulstein Shipyard delivered a CSOV vessel, partially built in Poland
Shipowner Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BS Offshore) has taken delivery of its latest CSOV (Commissioning Service Operation Vessel) for the commissioning and operation of offshore wind energy installations from the Ulstein shipyard in Norway, according to a statement from the Ulsteinvik shipyard.
The vessel, with the shipyard construction number 321, whose hull was manufactured by the Gdynia-based shipyard CRIST S.A., has been named WINDEA Clausius.
This is the second CSOV vessel in the SX222 series delivered by the Norwegian shipyard to join the BS Offshore fleet. Designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS in a TWIN X-STERN configuration, it is equipped with bow and stern azimuth thrusters for optimal performance in dynamic positioning (DP) operations, fuel economy and better performance in difficult sea conditions.
As Ulstein points out, the most important features of the vessel are the height-adjustable gangway (ramp) located amidships, the tower with a lift, the working crane with 3D motion compensation for lifting loads weighing up to five tonnes from the sea, and the height-adjustable mooring system with a ‘boat landing’ for CTV (Crew Transfer Vessel) boats, enabling the safe transfer of technical personnel and small equipment to the CSOV vessel.
These features ensure safe and efficient operation in offshore wind farms and other demanding environments.
The vessel has a total of 111 cabins, including 90 with daylight access, accommodating up to 132 people, along with life-saving equipment for everyone on board. The hybrid battery-assisted propulsion system, also prepared for methanol fuel, ensures a low carbon footprint.
WINDEA Clausius complements our fleet, which currently consists of five state-of-the-art vessels. Like its sister vessel WINDEA Curie, the new vessel features innovative design solutions focused on reliability, functionality, flexibility and environmental protection,” says Matthias Müller, Managing Director of BS Offshore.
‘The delivery of WINDEA Clausius to BS Offshore is another milestone in our successful cooperation,’ says Lars Lühr Olsen, Managing Director of Ulstein Verft.
BS Offshore’s new acquisition is named after German physicist Rudolf Clausius, a pioneer in thermodynamics. Other vessels previously delivered by Ulstein to this shipowner include WINDEA La Cour, WINDEA Leibniz, WINDEA Jules Verne and WINDEA Curie.
