The heel of the hybrid ferry has been laid!

On Tuesday, July 8th, this year, the keel was laid for constructing a hybrid passenger-car ferry at Remontowa Shipbuilding, part of the Remontowa Holding capital group.

This is the next stage in the production of the ship ordered by one of the largest shipowners in Norway, Torghatten Nord AS. At the beginning of May this year, the ceremony of cutting the first plates took place, which started the entire construction process. The laying of the keel marks the transition to the next stage – starting the hull assembly.

This is the ninth ferry under construction at Remontowa Shipbuilding for Torghatten Nord AS. The newly built double-ended ferry is designed to operate in the Norwegian fjords on the Stornes-Bjørnerå route. She will have two azimuth thrusters and vertically mounted electric motors powered by batteries or emergency generators.

In normal mode, the batteries are recharged from the onshore grid during unloading/loading. This occurs relatively frequently, as a single ferry pass takes no more than 12 minutes.

The ferry is scheduled to be handed over to the shipowner in the first quarter of 2026.
