Record-Breaking MSC Ieranto Visits Port of Gdynia

The longest vessel ever to visit the Polish port has arrived at the Baltic Container Terminal.

The Port of Gdynia has welcomed the container ship MSC Ieranto, measuring 367.5 meters in length and 51 meters in width. This marks a historic milestone as the longest vessel ever to visit the Polish port.

Strategic Connection Between Asia and Europe

MSC Ieranto arrived in Gdynia as part of the SWAN service, which connects Chinese ports with European terminals. The massive vessel moored at the Hel Quay of the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT), demonstrating the port’s growing capacity to handle ultra-large container ships.

Infrastructure Development Enables New Records

The arrival of such a large vessel has been made possible by ongoing hydrotechnical works at the port. These improvements are designed to accommodate the largest ocean-going container ships, positioning Gdynia as an increasingly important hub in international maritime logistics.

The previous record holder was the container ship MSC Benedetta XIII, which was only 1.5 meters shorter than the MSC Ieranto.

Latest Addition to MSC Fleet

MSC Ieranto represents the newest acquisition in the fleet of the Italian-Swiss shipping company MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company). The vessel is scheduled to remain in Gdynia until Friday, November 28.

This achievement underscores the Port of Gdynia’s commitment to modernization and its ability to serve as a competitive gateway for containerized cargo moving between Asia and European markets. The successful handling of such large vessels demonstrates the port’s technical capabilities and its strategic importance in the Baltic Sea region.
