ORP Mewa MCMV has left the shipyard
The brand new mine countermeasures vessel, ORP Mewa, sailed from Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. on December 27 and moored in Gdynia. Six days earlier, after signing the acceptance and delivery documents, the minehunter joined the 13th minesweeper Squadron, part of the 8th Coastal Defence Flotilla in Świnoujście, with a home port in Gdynia.
ORP Mewa is the third state-of-the-art minehunter commissioned by the Polish Navy from the Gdansk-based Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. The shipyard is the leader of a consortium that also includes the Research & Development Maritime Technology Centre (OBR CTM) S.A. and PGZ Naval Shipyard from Gdynia.
Preparations for the flag-raising ceremony will begin on the ship.
