Great excitement at the last BALTEXPO Programme Council

Preparations for the largest meeting of the maritime industry in Central and Eastern Europe are entering the final, most important phase. There is not much time because the BALTEXPO trade fair starts on October 10.

On September 13, the fifth and final BALTEXPO Programme Council was held at the headquarters of the MTG Gdańsk International Fair, attended by the representatives of entities and companies involved in the process of developing a new formula for the trade fair that has a long-standing tradition in the maritime industry.

The President of MTG S.A. Mr Andrzej Bojanowski, opening the meeting, emphasised the great importance of the event, which already has a 40-year tradition, as well as the fact that the Programme Council and the event’s organisers have set themselves the goal of increasing the event’s rank and giving it a new face.

– It is an honour for us that in such a large group of experts and representatives of renowned institutions, the city authorities of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Szczecin, universities and representatives of the largest companies in the maritime industry, including port authorities, we can write the history of this fair anew. I am convinced that thanks to our joint work and great multilateral involvement we will be able to create an event that meets the current needs of the maritime industry,’ says Andrzej Bojanowski, President of MTG SA.

During the meeting, the conference programme, the list of exhibitors, as well as the planned side events and many novelties such as the Golden Anchors plebiscite, a special zone for start-ups, a business support zone, and a career day, scheduled for the last day of the fair, during which young people will be able to get a closer look at internship, job and apprenticeship offers in the maritime industry, including a mock interview.

– Our maritime economy needs events such as BALTEXPO, thanks to which it is possible to build and strengthen a common space for economic and maritime dialogue bringing together entrepreneurs: shipping, the port and shipbuilding sector and the rapidly growing offshore sector, as well as other stakeholders in the blue economy. We are delighted that there will also be room for discussions on security as part of the Balt-Military-Expo salon,” comments Dorota Pyć, Ph.D., Head of the Centre for Maritime Studies at the University of Gdansk and a member of the BALTEXPO 2023 Programme Council.

Participation in the fair has already been confirmed by 152 exhibitors representing representatives of port and maritime infrastructure, Polish and international offshore organisations, professionals from the military sector design companies or industrial construction.

– Our city is developing on the basis of its maritime economy, port or shipyard. We are aware that BALTEXPO has acquired a new face, which we are now jointly restoring to splendour. We want to meet the industry’s expectations in the best possible way, so we treat this edition as a good start, while at the same time, in economic terms, we are aware of the great potential of the sea. I believe that after this year’s edition in October this title will gain even more importance,’ says Piotr Borawski, Deputy Mayor of Gdańsk, member of the BALTEXPO Programme Council.

The MTG Gdańsk International Fair bought back the rights to the event in 2021. It thus became the organiser of the BALTEXPO Fair, recognised in the maritime and shipbuilding industry, which until now had been prepared by the Warsaw Fair Board. Both the city of Gdańsk authorities and its organisers were keen to take over BALTEXPO – a brand which for years has grown into the calendar of the most important events in the Pomeranian region – to give it a modern character, broaden its scope and at the same time guarantee the maritime sector a cyclical platform for exchanging knowledge and experience.

There is less than a month left until the fair. This year’s event edition will likely have a record attendance regarding the number of exhibitors and the events accompanying the event.

Take part in the maritime industry’s largest event and register today as a VISITOR or EXHIBITOR.
