Five companies want to modernise the Kashubian Basin in the Szczecin Port

Five companies submitted bids to the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority in response to the tender for construction works under the investment project “Improving access to the Port in Szczecin in the Kashubian Basin”. The bidders evaluated their services from nearly 223 to nearly 296 million PLN, with an assumed budget of about 286 million PLN.

As part of the investment in the Kashubian Basin of the Szczecin Port, a new Dąbrowieckie quay will be built and the Katowice and Chorzów quays will be modernized. The port areas will be 12.5 meters deep.

“Improving access to the Port in Szczecin in the area of the Kashubian Basin” is, apart from “Improving access to the Port in Szczecin in the area of the Dębicki Canal”, two powerful investment packages, which will result in adapting the infrastructure of the Szczecin port to current trends in the maritime transport market. Both are related to the deepening and modernization of the Swinoujscie-Szczecin waterway to 12.5 meters. Although the deepening itself is carried out by the Maritime Office in Szczecin, the role of the port management is precisely to adapt the port quays in Szczecin to the new parameters of the fairway, so that larger ships with more goods than at present arrive at the port.

The investment is co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund Infrastructure and Environment Programme. The deadline for completion of the works is set for the end of 2023.

Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority SA is the undisputed investment leader in the region. Since we are in the EU, thanks to EU support, the amount of investments made by the Company in the Szczecin-Świnoujście harbour complex will exceed two billion PLN.
