Construction of the tunnel under the Swina River
The crossing under the Swina River in Świnoujście, located in the course of national road No. 93, is one of the most important road investments carried out in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Its total length is 3 km. The main element of the crossing is a 1.44 km long single-aisle tunnel under the Swina River, drilled with a tunnel boring machine (TBM).
Drilling of the tunnel under the Swina River began on 17 March 2021 and was completed in September of this year. Work is currently underway on the various tunnel components (emergency exits, entry and exit chambers) and the surface part of the crossing. The current progress of works is about 80 per cent.
The task is financed from EU funds under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme. The total estimated value of the investment is PLN 913.8 million.
