An ecological project for PLN 8 million will be built at the ferry terminal in Swinoujscie

As much as 85 per cent funding has been awarded to the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority for a project worth around PLN 8 million entitled ‘Ensuring the reception of waste from ships in the port of Świnoujście in order to meet environmental requirements’.

The project involves the construction at the ferry terminal in Świnoujście of one of the most modern ballast water and wash water treatment plants in this part of Europe. The contract for the implementation of the investment in the design and build formula was signed by ZMPSiŚ with a consortium of companies: PTB Nickel Sp. z o.o. and PTB Nickel Technologia Sp. z o.o.

The port in Świnoujście will thus be greener and its competitiveness will be increased.

According to the schedule, the treatment plant should be operational in the first half of 2027. The funding comes from the new EU Connecting Europe Facility CEF 2 2021-2027 call.

This is yet another agreement signed by ZMPSiŚ in recent days. Under the same Connecting Europe Facility CEF 2 2021-2027, a contract was signed for the construction of a multimodal rail transhipment hub.

The subject of the contract is, among other things, the construction of a storage yard with a usable length of 396 m and a usable width of 27 m. The works include the construction of an existing siding track, the construction of a rainwater drainage network with a linear drainage line, a retention reservoir and a pre-treatment system.
