SMM maritime fair in Hamburg stationary again after four years!

SMM Hamburg

The SMM International Trade Fair for Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment, Machinery and Technology in Hamburg, one of the largest maritime industry trade fairs in the world, opens on Tuesday, 6 September. For the first time in four years, exhibitors and visitors will be able to meet again in person.

The SMM trade fair is the largest and most important event of the global marine industry. Every two years, it brings together the world’s leaders in shipbuilding and ship repair, the production of state-of-the-art marine equipment, technology and engineering, and decision-makers in the wider maritime industry. A coronavirus pandemic forced the organisers to cancel the previous edition and deliver it in digital-only form. This one was held in 2021.

– The very fact that the SMM fair, after the hiatus imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, can once again be held stationary is an attraction in itself, and the 30th anniversary of the event makes this maritime meeting even more special, says Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO, Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC).

The organisers expect around 2,000 exhibitors and 40,000 visitors from more than 100 countries to attend this year’s anniversary edition of SMM. Among them, exhibitors from Poland include: shipyards and companies from the Remontowa Holding group, Crist SA, Morska Stocznia Remontowa “Gryfia”, Stocznia Remontowa Nauta SA. All eleven halls are fully booked.

The trade fair is accompanied by industry conferences, the themes of which this year focus primarily on the energy transition in the maritime industry, digital transformation and climate change.
