Police in Sweden carry out investigation on ferry from which two Poles fell off

It was reported on Thursday evening that Swedish police were conducting an investigation in Karlskrona on the Stena Spirit ferry, from which a seven-year-old boy had fallen overboard on Thursday afternoon, followed by his 36-year-old mother.

The Poles were recovered and transported to a hospital in Karlskrona.

At the moment we cannot comment on the condition of the injured,” Blekinge Region’s Chief of Emergency Staff Henrik Magnell told Polish Press Agency.

The ferry was delayed reaching the port of Karlskrona on Thursday evening, where Swedish police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. The crew and passengers who may have witnessed the incident are to be interviewed, and a CCTV recording will be secured.

On Thursday afternoon, the seven-year-old boy fell off the Stena Spirit ferry sailing from Gdynia to Karlskrona in Sweden, followed by a 36-year-old woman. The ship turned back and a boat was launched to take part in the search operation. Rescue services from Sweden and Poland worked at the scene using ships and helicopters.
