Poland’s first offshore wind energy investment process management course opened

“Offshore wind energy: management, investment preparation and implementation” – is a newly opened postgraduate course developed jointly by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Warsaw’s Lazarski University. On Saturday, 15 October this year, the official inauguration of the studies took place.

– I am delighted that we can begin the first semester of the first postgraduate studies in Poland devoted entirely to the process of managing the preparation and implementation of offshore wind farm investments. The emerging offshore wind sector in Poland needs and will continue to need highly qualified specialists. That is why we are investing in the preparation of personnel who will power the Polish offshore wind energy sector in the near future,’ said Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. – I would like to thank the PGE Group employees and the university authorities for bringing our joint initiative to fruition. I wish the students of the studies, as well as the lecturers, fruitful cooperation throughout their studies. Together, let’s build cadres for the Polish offshore – he added.

The lecturing staff of the course “Offshore wind energy: management, preparation and implementation of investments” includes experts from the PGE Group, including specialists who have gathered experience in offshore wind abroad.

PGE cooperates with leading Polish scientific centres to educate personnel for the development of the domestic offshore wind energy market. PGE cooperates with the Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdynia Maritime University, Łazarski University in Warsaw, the National Geological Institute, the Maritime Institute in Gdańsk and the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In addition, PGE cooperates with technical and trade schools, such as the General and Technical School Complex in Ustka, the Secondary School Complex No. 4 – Technical School No. 2 in Malbork or the Vocational Education Centre in Malbork.

The PGE Group – the largest investor in the Baltic Sea – is currently developing three offshore wind projects – Baltica 2+3 and Baltica 1. The PGE Group’s strategic goal is to have at least 6.5 GW installed in offshore wind farms by 2040. By 2050, all energy supplied to PGE customers will come from renewable sources.
