PGE: joint venture with Tauron concerns cooperation in offshore area
The joint venture with Tauron concerns cooperation in the offshore area, PGE Capital Group spokeswoman Małgorzata Babska told on Monday. UOKiK (Office of Competition and Consumer Protection) reported that the two companies plan to create a company that will produce and market electricity.
As reported by the OCCP on Monday, on 28 October the Office received an application concerning a concentration involving the establishment by PGE and Tauron of a joint venture that will be active in the production and marketing of electricity.
Małgorzata Babska explained that the application for approval of the concentration concerns cooperation with Tauron in the offshore area. She recalled that in mid-January PGE signed a letter of intent with Enea and Tauron regarding cooperation in future offshore wind farm projects.
– The goal was to acquire new land for offshore wind investments. We will jointly take part in auctions and apply for subsequent permits for building wind farms on the Baltic Sea. These will be special purpose vehicles established with Enea and Tauron, which will apply for these permits, Babska informed.
She pointed out that according to the company’s strategy, the capacity of the PGE Group’s offshore wind farms is to reach at least 6.5 GW by 2040.
– We are establishing cooperation, previously with Orsted, now with state-owned companies, in order to implement the strategic goals included in our strategy – said the PGE Group spokeswoman.
