New Ferry Jantar Unity Leaves Gdańsk — Exciting Events Await in Szczecin

On the morning of January 11, 2026, the newly built ferry Jantar Unity departed from the Gdańsk Remontowa Shipyard, marking a milestone in Polish shipbuilding and setting the stage for a major maritime celebration in Szczecin.

The Jantar Unity is one of the most modern Ro-Pax ferries operating on the Baltic Sea. Built by Gdańska Stocznia Remontowa for Unity Line as part of the POLSCA Baltic Ferries project, it was officially handed over to the shipowner in December after successful technical acceptance and sea trials.

Jantar Unity Heads for Szczecin

The ferry is expected to arrive in Szczecin on January 15, docking near Bulwar Chrobrego around 14:00 following berthing trials in Swedish and Polish ports.

Szczecin will host a series of public events centered around the vessel, drawing attention from maritime enthusiasts, local residents, and industry observers alike.

Grand Naming Ceremony

On January 17 at 15:00, the Jantar Unity will be officially christened at an event on Bulwar Chrobrego. The ceremony, open to the public, will also be broadcast on a large screen for spectators.

Later that evening, a multimedia show featuring laser displays, light projections, and visual effects will celebrate the ferry’s design and technological innovations, enhancing the festive atmosphere of the event.

Open Day for the Public

On January 18, residents and visitors will have the unique opportunity to tour the interior of the Jantar Unity between 10:00 and 16:00. Entry is free and does not require prior registration; visitors will be admitted in organized groups of around 20 people, with new groups starting every eight minutes.

This open day offers a rare chance to explore a state-of-the-art Baltic ferry before it enters regular service and to appreciate features such as its passenger spaces, vehicle decks, and advanced systems.

Ready for Service

Following the festivities, Jantar Unity is slated to begin operations on the Świnoujście–Trelleborg route, strengthening maritime links between Poland and Sweden. The vessel represents a significant upgrade in capacity and technology for Unity Line’s fleet.

Jantar Unity’s visit to Szczecin celebrates not only a new ship, but also the maritime heritage and future of Poland’s ferry industry. The combination of public events, a high-profile naming ceremony, and access for the community underscores the growing importance of modern Baltic Sea links and Polish shipbuilding achievements.
