Ferry accident. Swedish police appeal to Polish passengers
Swedish police have encouraged passengers via Polish Press Agency to provide information that may clarify the circumstances of the child and woman falling off the ferry.
Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the Swedish police. We can provide an interpreter,” Thomas Johansson, spokesman for Karlskrona police.
The ferry Stena Spirit, sailing from Gdynia, arrived in the port of Karlskrona in south-east Sweden on Thursday evening. Police questioned the crew and a CCTV recording was secured.
On Thursday afternoon, a 7-year-old boy fell off the Stena Spirit ferry sailing from Gdynia to Karlskrona, Sweden, and a 36-year-old woman jumped behind him. The ship turned back and a boat was launched to take part in the search operation. After about an hour, the woman and child were found and taken to a hospital in Karlskrona. Rescue services from Sweden and Poland worked at the scene using ships and helicopters.
