Port of Gdynia Seaport Authority SA with the help of Research Network Łukasiewicz – Institute of Logistics and Warehousing is preparing to introduce intelligent management of road freight transport.
Ensuring smooth road access to the Port of Gdynia and the timely delivery and cancellation of cargo are essential for further development of the port. On this challenge, the Port of Gdynia is cooperating with experts from the Research Network Łukasiewicz – Institute of Logistics and Warehousing. Intelligent management of road freight transport, in accordance with the needs of the port terminals’ reloading, will positively affect the efficiency and effectiveness of the terminals’ work, elimination of queues on access roads and shortening the time of unloading and loading ships.
In order to meet these challenges, the Port of Gdynia Maritime Authority SA started the project entitled “Feasibility study with technical documentation of the intelligent truck traffic management system in the Port of Gdynia”. The project received funding from the financial instrument CEF Transport 2018 “Connecting Europe” and will be implemented until April 2022.
Developed by experts of the Research Network Łukasiewicz – Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, the project concept includes the integration of three IT and teletechnical systems – e-availability of transhipment in terminals, management of common port parking space and intelligent traffic management system on internal and access roads of the port. What is important, the latter will be integrated with the Tri-City ITS system – Tristar.
